We’re sorry but we are soon able to offer this game.

AS Exclusive Review Summary

  • Requires an appreciable amount of patience and a steady hand.
  • Having both a versus and single player mode makes for some nice variety

  • Feels like your equipment ultimately matters far more than your actual skill.
  • Matchmaking also seems to favor equipment over ability.
  • The constant need to repair stuff is annoying.

Game Description

Ready, Fire, Aim

Archery King is basically just a game about shooting arrows at a target. It’s extremely simple in concept, but things do get more complicated in their execution.

Basics and Going Solo

You won’t be able to get new gear or increase your level while playing the single player Challenge or Time Race modes, but they do make for good practice.

  • Use a soft touch. Once you’ve drawn an arrow back, it won’t take much to adjust your aim. Use smaller finger movements to avoid having your crosshairs wobble all over the place.
  • You can cancel a shot at any time by tapping the cancel button.
  • Always pay attention to the wind. Anything less than 0.8 won’t have much of a noticeable effect, but anything over 1.0 definitely will. Make sure to factor that in when you aim.
  • Distance is also important. The farther away you are from your target, the more pronounced the effect of the wind will be.
  • Take your time. When you’re playing solo, you don’t have any shot clocks to worry about.
  • Don’t use fancy equipment or items unless you have to. Things like better arrows and bows cost money and are either limited in their use or will require repairs over time. Since you aren’t actually earning money that could be used to repair and restock, you’re better off sticking with the defaults.
  • Scores don’t really matter. The compulsion to earn a gold medal in everything will likely be strong, but you don’t actually have to earn a gold in order to progress. So long as you can reach the minimum goal you’ll be fine.
  • You won’t lose a heart unless you can’t earn bronze. So long as you can hit that minimum score you’ll never have to worry about wait timers.

Head to Head

There’s a much smaller margin for error when playing against others online.

  • Do the math. It costs money to enter any of the online competitions, so make sure you think about how much you have versus how much you stand to gain/lose before you jump in.
  • Take your time, but hurry up. Unlike playing solo, your shots are always on a timer. Try not to let the indicator psyche you out, but also try not to take too long to line your shots up.
  • Bring out the big guns. Since the stakes are higher, consider using your better gear when playing against other users. You’re going to need all the help you can get as a lot of them are almost unreasonably good at consistently hitting the 10 ring.

Archery Contested

Between the eyebrow-raising accuracy of other players and the amount of persistence needed to progress, I don’t expect that Archery King will ingratiate itself to everyone. There’s an enjoyable game here, if you’re patient, but depending on what you’re looking for in your mobile entertainment it might not be worth the effort.
